The concepts of supply chain design and management has come to the fore, due to the everincreasingcomplexity of the systems driving buyer supplier relations in both industrial andconsumer based markets. The unprecedented levels of supply chain management complexityare partly attributed to the Internet, through its more recent business acceptance andcommercial use. This article is about new competitive challenges being realised from theunprecedented speed of growth of the Internet and building commercially viable supplychains to meet the challenges faced by emerging virtual organisations. Particular focus isplaced on being able to harness the Internet to support solutions based innovation but alsodynamic and seamless supply chain management for e-Commerce.
